A one-day state-level workshop on the Electronic Detailed Accident Report (eDAR), Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme 2025, and Compensation to Victims of Hit and Run Vehicles Accident Scheme was held at the Institute of Driver Training and Research Centre, Top Dussara, Imphal East.
The event was organized by the Transport Department, Government of Manipur, in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Manipur State Unit. Anurag Bajpai, PCCF & HoFF and Additional Chief Secretary (Transport), graced the function as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the participants, Bajpai said Manipur recorded over 3,000 road accidents and 834 deaths in the past seven years, with a mortality rate of 29%, far above the national average of 9.3%. He stressed the urgent need for effective implementation of the eDAR system and proper training for police and paramilitary personnel in emergency handling.
He emphasized that the eDAR and Cashless Treatment Schemes together could transform emergency response and digital governance in road safety.
The technical session featured presentations from experts of NIC, Transport Department, State Health Agency, and National Insurance Company Ltd. on eDAR implementation, cashless treatment, and compensation mechanisms.
The workshop was attended by district-level officers, transport officials, and NIC representatives.
