Yaiskul Residents Demand Capital Punishment for Murder of Retired Physiotherapist Dr. Rita

Residents of Yaiskul, including local clubs and Meira Paibis, have demanded capital punishment for those responsible for the brutal killing of 67-year-old retired physiotherapist Dr. Ashem Ningol (Ashem) Rita.

On Tuesday, the United Club of Yaiskul and Yaiskul Apunba Meira Paibi staged a protest along the Yaiskul stretch of the National Highway, condemning the gruesome murder of Dr. Rita, whose body was found at her residence in Yaiskul Chingakham Leirak, Imphal West, on Monday evening.

According to reports, Dr. Rita was home alone at the time of the attack. Her husband and son had gone out to perform a puja for their son’s birthday. Upon returning later in the afternoon, they discovered her lifeless on the second floor and immediately informed the police.

Initial investigations suggest that Dr. Rita was attacked with a sharp weapon. The assailants appear to have attempted to destroy evidence by removing the CCTV hard drive from the house.

A forensic team has examined the scene, and the police have registered a case. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the motive and apprehend those responsible for the heinous crime.
