“Yoga is the path to peace in today’s troubled world,” said V Bhagaiah, National Executive Member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), while addressing a large gathering at the 11th International Day of Yoga celebration held at Bhaskar Prabha, Konjengleikai.
The event, jointly organised by Kreeda Bharati Manipur and the College Development Council of Manipur University, was held under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
In his keynote address, Bhagaiah described yoga as more than physical exercise, calling it a spiritual and societal practice capable of healing individuals and uniting communities. “Yoga unites people, calms anger, brings peace of mind, purifies the body, and spreads love and harmony,” he said, adding that it offers a simple and effective solution in a world affected by conflict and unrest.
He also paid tribute to sage Patanjali, describing him as a visionary who gave humanity a timeless tool for inner and outer peace.
The programme featured demonstrations of five key yoga asanas and a mass yoga session involving over 500 participants, including students, teachers, yoga practitioners, and members of the general public.
Bhagaiah further noted that the International Day of Yoga is now observed in over 170 countries, highlighting its growing universal significance.
The event concluded with a collective meditation, reinforcing the message that yoga is not just a practice, but a way of life that can transform individuals and societies.
