Kakching, December 25: Youth Union Club (YUC), Kakching Wairi—one of the oldest clubs in Kakching, established in 1954—celebrated its 71st Foundation Day on Thursday at the club premises.
The programme was attended by YUC Kakching Wairi President Shougaijam Purnima; President of the United Clubs Organisation (UCO), Kakching Wairi, Moirangthem Brojen; retired professor Dr. Moirangthem Rajendra; YUC Treasurer Naorem Shantikumar; Vice President Shougaijam Modhuchandra; and local elders Shougaijam Khogen and Shougaijam Manihar, among others.
During the event, the club felicitated senior members Naorem Shakhi, Moirangthem Manihal, and Shougaijam Ibotombi for their contributions. Individuals who have brought laurels at national and international levels were also honoured, including Moirangthem Jiban (National Awardee), Moirangthem Kendra (National Awardee and Assistant Professor, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan), and Moirangthem Oliver, winner of the Mr. Manipur Contest 2025 in the 65 kg category.
Students of the locality who secured 80 per cent and above in the Class X and XII examinations conducted by BOSEM, COHSEM, and CBSE were felicitated and encouraged.
The celebration also featured children’s recitation competitions and various cultural programmes.
