Yumnam Khemchand Singh at State Credit Seminar 2026 Stresses Inclusive Growth

Imphal, March 18 — Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Wednesday stressed that inclusive growth is essential for long-term stability while addressing the State Credit Seminar 2026 held at Sangai Hall, Hotel Imphal.

The Chief Minister made the remarks during the launch of the State Focus Paper 2026–27, prepared by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, which focuses on “Credit-Led Development in Manipur.”

He noted that peace, development, and stability are interconnected, adding that sustained stability depends on ensuring growth reaches all sections of society. Emphasising the importance of financial access, he described institutional credit as a key driver of grassroots development and economic transformation.

During the programme, the Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated the TRIBES project in Churachandpur, aimed at improving livelihoods in tribal areas.

Highlighting Manipur’s potential in sectors such as horticulture, fisheries, handloom, and handicrafts, he urged banks and financial institutions to extend greater support to farmer producer organisations, rural entrepreneurs, and self-help groups.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he said efforts would continue to strengthen credit delivery and implementation mechanisms, while appreciating the continued support of NABARD and calling for coordinated action with institutions like the Reserve Bank of India to build a resilient and self-reliant Manipur.

Officials at the seminar noted that the State Focus Paper projects a credit potential of around Rs 3,500 crore for 2026–27, with a major share allocated to agriculture and allied sectors, followed by MSMEs and other priority sectors.
